Bj SPORT aspires to being an ethically responsible business. We put severe demands on ourselves and our suppliers in areas such as business practices, production and materials handling. Our business' influence on the environment should be as limited as possible. We strongly oppose corruption and we do not want to be part of child labour, hazardous working environments, violation of human rights or social injustice.
A Code of Conduct (COC) has been established and communicated to our employees, suppliers and other business partners. The code of conduct is also an integral part of the contracts between Bj SPORT and our suppliers, which are obliged to abide by the code.
We have established our own system for monitoring subcontractors, based on a check-list by which we constantly follow up on our suppliers. We also have a dedicated person on staff, with a personal background from the areas where our suppliers are found. Her task is to monitors our suppliers with a particular focus on ethical behaviour.
Also, we have established routines whereby third party inspectors pay unannounced visits to our suppliers. These procedures include all suppliers.
If irregularities are observed, these are reported directly to BjSport's Board of Directors without further procedure or assessment by the Company's administration. This is done to ensure full integrity and enables the Board to act swiftly should a breach of the code be disclosed.
Our main policy in such cases would be to maintain our relationship with the supplier and use our position to encourage improvements - rather than terminate the relationship and replace the vendor. We believe that this is the best way to improve ethical standards and social responsibility.
